Wewahitchka prepares to host annual Tupelo Festival

Posted

On Saturday – rain or shine – vendors, organizations and visitors from around the country will gather in Wewahitchka's Lake Alice Park for the 2022 Tupelo Honey Festival.

The event, an annual celebration of the area's famous tupelo honey and those who produce it,  draws large crowds every year, say festival orgainzers.

Not even the rainy forecast can keep the festivities from taking place.

"The Tupelo Festival will go on as planned, regardless of the weather forecast," the event's organizers wrote on Facebook.

The festival will run from 9 a.m. CDT until 5 p.m.  CDT. Admission is free and open to the public.

Visitors will enjoy a variety of food options, live music, family-friendly activites and booths from local organizations, vendors and beekeepers.

The Dalkeith Volunteer Fire Department will be holding a fundraiser at the festival to raise money for new equipment.

Visitors will also be able to donate blood at the festival by visiting the Big Red Bus.
