The Panhandle Players will host their season kickoff party on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. at the Chapman Theatre, 155 Avenue E. in Apalachicola. Attendees will hear what shows the Players have planned for this season, as well as more about local community theater. There will be an opportunity to become an official member of Panhandle Players at the event. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
The Joe Center for the Arts is celebrating its fifth year. Come join the celebration on Saturday, September 10 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. EDT. Special Guest Speakers will be the Mayor of Port St. Joe, Rex Buzzett, and the Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Joe Whitmer.
The event will feature live music by Saxophonist Chris Godber, kids activities with Spintastic Art and Face Painting, refreshments, and Cake.

From 8 to 10 p.m. this Saturday, Sept. 10, visitors to the Crooked River Lighthouse can enjoy the full harvest moon, as well as Paul Eagleheart from the Lipan Apache Tribe as he conducts a sacred Native American drum ceremony. Guests can bring a chair and enjoy the evening next to the fire pit, weather permitting, as part of an informal drumming circle.
The climb to the top of the lighthouse, in Carrabelle at 1975 Hwy 98 West, is $10 for adults and $5 for kids, and advance reservations are required for those who wish to climb. For more information, contact the gift shop at 850-697-2732.
The Port St. Joe Garden Club will be holding their Fall Plant Sale on Saturday, September 10 starting from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT at the Garden Center, located at 216 Eighth Street in Port St. Joe.
The proceeds support the many educational programs hosted by the garden club, scholarships for graduating high school seniors planning to study horticulture or a related field and beautification projects.
The Farmers Market in Apalachicola will be this Saturday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mill Pond Pavilion at the end of Market Street. The market offers local seafood, produce, honey, homemade breads, pies, and other regional specialties every second and fourth Saturday.
The September Sunset and Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse on St. George Island will be Saturday, Sept. 10, from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. No advanced reservations taken, just purchase tickets in the gift shop and sign up for 15-minute time slot. Cost is $10 per climber and $7 for members of the St. George Lighthouse Association. For more information, please contact the Lighthouse Gift Shop at 850-927-7745. The Cape St. George Light is located in St. George Lighthouse Park at the center of the island.
