The summer show at the Joe Center for the Arts celebrates all things under the sun. Employing the theme of summer sun, artists of all levels were invited to apply creative expression in the arts using any and all kinds of media and to share it for consideration in this juried exhibition.
So, grab your shades and take a summery dive into those golden rays of light, and let them inspire your art.
The exhibition is free to the public and open Wednesday through Saturday weekly until August 5.
Camp Gordon Johnston World War II Museum in Carrabelle offers a special exhibit on the campaign in North Africa called Operation Torch, through Saturday, August 13.
The Nov. 8, 1942 operation was the first large Allied invasion in which the American military participated, as well as the first American airborne operation.
The museum, at 1873 Hwy 98 West just west of Carrabelle, is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no charge for admission, but donations are gladly accepted. For more information, contact the museum at (850) 697-8575 or museum@campgordonjohnston.com.
Pickleball meet-ups occur several times weekly in various Gulf County locations.
Play at Frank Pate Park on Tuesdays, Thursday and Saturdays starting at 9 a.m. EDT. Play at the Mexico Beach Municipal Playground on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. CDT. And play at Salinas Park on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting at 9 a.m. EDT.
A weekly league at the new course at the 16th St. Park Leagues has been running since March 8.
It runs on Sundays at 5:30 p.m. EDT. It's a best shot scramble with two people, randomly drawn from a deck of cards, or flipping discs to see who is paired up. It costs $5 per person to play. The first place team will take the winnings.

Looking for summer fun for the whole family? Check out the Evening at the Edge of the Sea workshops at the FSU Marine Lab east of Carrabelle, at 3618 US-98 in St. Teresa. The workshop, which has a fee of $15, includes a walk along the tidal flats with marine lab staff to learn about the fascinating marine creatures. The lab also hosts free public tours each Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., to learn about current research initiatives, meet the lab staff and more.
