Help collect live urchins from St. Joseph Bay in a roundup beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022. The collected urchins – which destroy seagrasses by overgrazing – will be relocated to deeper water by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Volunteers must register at the Frank Pate City Boat Ramp, located in the heart of Port St. Joe at the intersection of U.S. highways 98 and 71.
• Check-in begins at 8 a.m. EDT.
• Volunteers must bring their own boat and snorkeling gear.
• Event organizers will provide buckets and gloves.
• Upon registration, volunteers will be directed to the rendezvous point, marked by a large, red balloon.
• Volunteers will be provided with maps and GPS locations that show where to collect urchins.
• Buckets, filled with urchins and seawater, must be returned to the check-in point by 5 p.m. EDT.

The University of Florida IFAS Franklin County Extension Office will be hosting a plant clinic at the Franklin County Public Library in Carrabelle on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT and at the Margaret Key Library in Apalachicola on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. EDT.
The clinic will allow visitors the opportunity to ask a master gardener about pests and other gardening challenges. Guests are encoraged to bring photos along to help accurately portray the problems they are experienceing.
The Eastpoint Artisans Farmers Market is located on Highway 98 right next to Frost Pottery. This Eastpoint market is open on the first and third Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. EDT.
