MBARA, the Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association, presented the city of Mexico Beach with two grants this past week.
The first grant, for $8,000, was from donations received through MBARA for the city. Various projects are targeted such as landscaping, dune restoration, and parks, with more than $6,000 of the grant for the city to use where they need the funds the most. The total provided to help rebuild the City of Mexico Beach after Hurricane Michael is $330,500.
MBARA also presented a $2,000 grant to the city to help rebuild the pier. The city had worked hard and long to get FEMA’s permission to build a concrete pier. These funds were raised by Mexico Beach Rising in cooperation with MBARA. Mexico Beach Rising hosts an annual music festival near Tallahassee, with the next one slated for Saturday, Feb. 26.
