Garden club sale a hit, after storms clear out

The Port St. Joe Garden Club extends bountiful bouquets of thanks to its ardent members and the community at large for their generous support of the annual plant/yard/bake sale.

At one point in time, shoppers and volunteers were corralled inside the garden center for their safety due to a tornado watch. However, after the threatening line of storms blew through the area, gardeners and bargain seekers resumed scooping up great deals.

This fundraiser was dedicated to the memory of club member Pamela Garmon. A touching memorial, topped by one of Ms. Garmon’s red sunbonnets and a coordinating pair of flashy sunglasses, honored her life and radiant personality.

The garden club supports education in horticulture and conservation, local beautification projects, civic involvement, and Blue Star marker installations. In addition, the club offers scholarships to graduating high school seniors with the intent of majoring in botany, forestry, agriculture, ecology, or related fields.

For more information about the club, email or visit the Port St. Joe Garden Club Facebook page. Please contact coordinator Sue Meyer at (513) 504-1679 for details regarding the rental of the newly renovated and historic Garden Center at 216 Eighth Street. The venue is ideal for weddings, graduations, and family reunions.
